            Watershed Counselling Service and Therapy Law are both trading names of of Dr Barbara Mitchels.
 
           COUNSELLING 
           Watershed provides counselling, psychotherapy, mentoring and professional practice supervision, working 
           within the Ethical Framework of the BACP.
         
          CONSULTANCY
           Therapy Law is a  consultancy servic  to help practitioners experiencing ethical and legal       
           dilemmas in the counselling and other helping professions.

         Personal qualifications and experience:

        Barbara holds dual qualifications in therapy and law. 
        Now retired from legal practice,  her consultancy work draws on the knowldege and skills    
       gained in her law  degree, and in many years as a solicitor advocate and in family and community mediation.   
       
        Barbara also holds qualifications in counselling, psychotherapy and counselling supervision, and is    
        a BACP Registered Practitioner (Snr Accred).  Her subsequent  PhD.  research explored the relationship of 
       trauma, conflict and therapy, focussing on practice experience of post war trauma therapy in the Balkans.  
       Barbara was awarded a Fellowship of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) in 
       2006.  

      PUBLICATIONS
      Barbara has written widely - her  books, online resources for practitioners and journal paper topics include
      ethical and legal practice, post-traumatic stress, supporting vulnerable witnesses, and more - see the 
      Publications page for her more recent publications.

                            Counselling and psychotherapy experience includes:
        *  NHS GP surgery,  University counselling service, Emergency services staff support, EAPs and Private practice.
        * International work for the Red Cross, the Red Crescent, Save the Children, UNICEF and other agencies. 
        * Research includes the relationship of traumatic stress and conflict in the context of post-war peace-building. 

                    Legal experience includes private practice, and work for local authorities and government

         *  Family law, child protection and safeguarding vulnerable children and adults
         *  All Issues Mediation and Community Mediation
